Silica Ramming Mass

quartz Granules | quartz Powder

Acidic Ramming Mass, also known as Silica Ramming Mass or Mix, is used in Coreless Induction Furnaces, for melting of scrap. It is a dry lining refractory that can be used for all types of iron and steel and in both mini steel plants as well as foundries. High performance Silica Ramming Mixes (also known as Acidic Ramming Mass in generic terms), designed to minimize erosion in induction melting.

Silica ramming mass can safely be used up to an operating temperature of 1700°C it expands very little so it is superior to both alumina and magnesia to resist thermal shocks. Secondly its cost is very low in comparison to alumina and magnesia. TMM India focuses on quality of silica ramming mass by providing particle size distribution to an optimum level, according to the furnace capacity and make, giving a high density, trouble free and consistent linings.

Silica is normally used conventional grades of iron grey, ductile and malleable. It is also used for melting carbon steels with carbon content higher than 0.1% and iron alloys like Ni-harden-resist and chrome iron. High purity silica yields more lining life. It also results in considerable uniformity in physical properties.
